A plain-English note on what this site collects, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

The Polygloter is a personal blog. I use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which posts land with readers so I can write better ones. I don't sell your data, I don't run ads, and I don't build advertising profiles. If your browser asks me not to track you, I don't.

What I collect

Analytics are handled by a third-party analytics provider. As you browse, it records things like: the pages you view, how long you stay before leaving, clicks and interactions on the page, the site that referred you, and technical details such as your browser, device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. This happens for all visitors, including anonymous ones — I never ask for your name or email to read the site, and I don't try to identify you personally.

Cookies & local storage

To count a visit consistently across pages, the analytics provider stores a small amount of data in your browser (cookies and local storage). These are used only for the analytics described above — not for advertising. You can clear them at any time through your browser, and blocking them won't stop you from reading anything here.

Where your data goes

Analytics data is processed by the provider on infrastructure hosted in the European Union. It isn't shared with anyone else. The site itself is static — there's no account, login, or database of readers behind it.

Your choices

If you enable “Do Not Track” in your browser, analytics won't load for you — I honour that signal. You can also block cookies or use a content blocker; the site is built to work fine without analytics. If you'd like me to look up or delete any data associated with you, email me and I'll help — though for anonymous visitors there's usually nothing that can be tied back to you in the first place.
